Living the dream

So I worked Wednesday and Fri, Sat, Sun doing my first shifts to orient me as an RN. I have to start out by saying, I love it! At the same time, it feels like it can't be real, have I finally reached my goal? It is a totally different role than when I was a CNA. I'm working where I worked as a CNA on a medical telemetry floor. The scary part is that I'm the one responsible if something is done wrong. Even the things that the aid is supposed to do, I'm in charge of making sure they get done. And there is so much to remember! It's not just passing meds and spending time with your patients. I have to do so much, I went three hours yesterday without being able to check on one of my patients! Thank heavens for good CNAs that check on them for me. I see the patient and their family looking to me for answers to why they're sick, what should be done, they don't know I graduated a month ago! I don't volunteer to tell them either. It is so busy and nobody knows what it's really like until you work in health care. I feel so blessed though to have made it here. I have to admit, Tanner is the big reason I did (him and Heavenly Father). I always knew what my goal was, but he pushed me to do it and keep going. There are a lot of feelings I have about being a nurse, and this is all random, but I'm so glad I'm here!

New year, new you!

So much has happened these past few weeks, I'll just make a list:

-I graduated nursing school
-I passed my NCLEX, yeah!!
-I got a job on med/tele at LDS Hospital!
-Tanner got a 4.0 (I'm bragging, but that's impressive!)

Ok, I know that list was mostly about me, but it's just a lot of nursing stuff has happened in a short span of time. We feel so blessed! Life has been really busy, but we're so grateful, the Lord has given us so much this past year. Some things that happened:

-We had our two year anniversary
-We went to Vegas (it was my first time going)

-It was one year since Eric's death in May. We still miss him so much.

-I made some amazing friends in nursing school and graduated!

-A couple random cute pictures from this year:

Noelle and Taylor

Some things I/we want to do this year are:
*Read my scriptures every day, I feel so much better when I do
*Be able to ski parallel before the end of February
*Go to the temple at least once a month by myself, and once with Tanner
*Start running again
*Pay off our debt
*Go camping!
*Spend more time with family and friends
*Have Tanner get a great MCAT score and apply to med school-eek!
*Welcome Aly home from Spain!! Can't wait!

Here's to a great new year!

Sleepy Tanner

A couple days before Christmas I got sick. Like waking up frequently in the middle of the night/barfy sick. Tanner was in a really deep sleep, which is when he sleep-talks the most. Here are a few of the many weirdo things he said when I was coming back to bed:

"Wait. Are you?....(Looking from me to my spot in the bed)..my equilibrium constant??"

This one he sang, "Separate you, separate me. Separate us, together. Ooooooh yeaaah." When I told him about that one, he started telling me he was probably thinking about some chemical reaction that I don't remember. What can I say? I married a nerd. Good thing we're both nerds.

A pillow lying behind him when I got back in bed apparently touched his bum and he yelled out "What is this?! It feels like it's soaring into the unknown!" I told him, "It's just a pillow."
"Oh..Interesting."
